Oporoma, Southern Ijaw LGA – Jubilation swept through Oporoma yesterday as Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State inaugurated the newly constructed Yenagoa-Oporoma Road, a development residents describe as “life-changing.”
For decades, Oporoma, the headquarters of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, faced limited accessibility, with larger vehicles unable to enter the town. But thanks to the new road, even smaller vehicles and tricycles can now reach the community with ease.
“This is Oporoma today! Governor Diri is working!!! The people of Oporoma are very grateful for this project,” said Tony Adams, a local resident.
Social media and community leaders have been awash with praise. Supporters called Governor Diri the “only original Izon Governor General” and “the best governor since the creation of Bayelsa State.” Many described the road as a “dream come true” and commended the administration for bringing government closer to the people.
“History is made by our beloved Governor. Well done, sir. You are a father indeed,” one resident remarked, while another said, “Only God can see you through as you stand by your words and accomplishments.”
Governor Diri’s administration has earned accolades for prioritizing infrastructure and accessibility, and the Oporoma project is being hailed as a signature achievement of the “prosperity administration.”
As the community celebrates, many hope this is just the beginning of sustained development across Bayelsa State.
