“Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda Gets Boost as Edo Agrees to Host Niger Delta Festival”

In a major boost for regional unity and youth development, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has secured Edo State as the official host of the 2026 Niger Delta Sports Festival.
A delegation of the Commission, led by its representative, visited the Edo State Government House today and received what was described as a “warm and encouraging” reception from Governor Monday Okpebholo.
Speaking after the meeting, the NDDC leader expressed appreciation to the governor for endorsing the festival and recognising the Commission’s renewed impact across the state.
According to him, the festival is not merely a sporting event but “an initiative designed to harness the potential of our young people, promote unity, and strengthen community ties across the Niger Delta.”He added that the vision aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises stakeholder collaboration, peacebuilding, and sustainable regional development.
He highlighted the Commission’s recent achievements as evidence of strengthened partnerships—pointing to the completion of the 27.5km Ogbia–Nembe Road executed in conjunction with SPDC, and the emergency reconstruction of the Irrua–Ewu–Agbede Road in Edo State.
He also praised the Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, whose consistent guidance has supported many of the Commission’s progress milestones.
As preparations for the 2026 festival begin, the NDDC is calling on governors, community leaders, and regional stakeholders to unite behind the project and deepen the spirit of cooperation across the Niger Delta.
“Sports will remain a powerful tool for shaping the future of our youth and strengthening the bonds that hold us together,” he declared. “Let us continue moving forward—together.”
