“Allegations Against Malami Crumble? EFCC Meeting Ends Without Detention”

Abuja, Nigeria — Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami SAN, has confirmed his release after undergoing questioning by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), assuring Nigerians that the truth will ultimately prevail.
In an update issued late Friday, Malami expressed gratitude to God for what he described as “divine intervention,” noting that his engagement with the EFCC had been “successful.”
“In line with my undertaking to keep Nigerians updated on my invitation by the EFCC, I give glory to Allah for His divine intervention. The engagement was successful and I am eventually released while on an appointment for further engagement, as the truth relating to the fabricated allegations against me continue to unfold,” Malami stated.
This comes hours after TarakiriVoice first reported his formal invitation by the anti-graft agency.
Earlier, in a separate statement, Malami had acknowledged the EFCC summons, describing himself as a “law-abiding and patriotic citizen” committed to transparency and accountability.
“Rooted in public service and in the spirit of transparency and accountability, I am committed to sharing with the Nigerian public the developments as they unfold,” he said, pledging full cooperation with investigators.
His invitation has fueled intense public interest, coming at a time of heightened scrutiny over governance, financial integrity, and accountability of former public office holders.
As Nigerians await the next round of engagements, Malami’s insistence that the allegations against him are “fabricated” sets the stage for what could become one of the most closely watched investigations in recent months.
