Yenagoa, November 14, 2025 – The Bayelsa State Government has dismissed circulating reports claiming that the state’s 60-megawatt Independent Power Gas Turbines are currently being test-run.
In an official statement, Hon. Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai, Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, described the rumours as “completely false” and urged members of the public to disregard the misinformation.
“The government will inform the general public as soon as the ongoing installation of the Gas Turbines is completed through appropriate government channels,” the statement emphasized.
The 60-megawatt gas turbine project, aimed at boosting the state’s industrial and power generation capacity, is still under installation, according to the Ministry.
