BREAKING: Journalist Fejiro Oliver Arrested On Delta Governor’s Orders, Flown From Abuja To Asaba

Oliver, known for his commentaries on governance in Delta, has consistently accused the governor of mismanagement and complicity in the alleged oppression of citizens by the Nigerian police.
A journalist and critic of the Delta State Governor, Fejiro Oliver, has been arrested by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department (FID).
Sources told SaharaReporters that Oliver was arrested on the orders of the governor, Sheriff Oborevwori. He was picked up from his office in Garki, Abuja, taken to the Force Intelligence Department (FID), and later moved to the airport for onward transfer to Asaba, the Delta State capital.
Oliver, known for his commentaries on governance in Delta, has consistently accused the governor of mismanagement and complicity in the alleged oppression of citizens by the Nigerian police.
On September 13, 2025, SaharaReporters reported that Okono Kelvin, the Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, Oborevwori, issued a public threat to human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, following the latter’s criticism of the state government.
In a Facebook post, Kelvin threatened Sowore, warning him to stay away from Delta State.
Using uncouth language, he warned Sowore to steer clear of Delta State, adding that they “do not joke with their Governor.”
Kelvin’s uncultured comments came after Sowore condemned the Delta State government for banning civil servants from “wearing artificial nails, eyelashes, and certain hairstyles, calling the move an unnecessary imposition on workers’ personal freedom.”
In a mix of poor English spellings and grammar, the governor’s aide wrote, “Omoyele Sowore this is Delta State, we dey cure mad people here, if u try enter this territory again, we go cure ur foolishness and your madness out of u, tell who ever that send u to be careful, we dnt play with our Governor here, he’s the most performing Governor in Nigeria, u can try your foolishness somewhere in other states but not in Delta State. Gov Sheriff isn’t the head of civil service, if u don’t know how Government is been run, go and ask questions u big fool.”
Meanwhile, he has come under public backlash for his threat against Sowore.
A commentator, Dedevwo Israel Ejiroghene said, “Omoyele Sowore is more important and impactful than your Papa Governor Sheriff Oborevwori Amuneke.”
Another writer, Sweet Daddykay Talks, commented and said, “This Kelvin ehn! Don’t you think you are being over zealous?
“Because of few infrastructural work this Sheriff government don do, you don crown am best governor?”
Another person, Ogodogu Oghenekaro, stated, “This your 100k job go put you for problem way this your Mumu governor nor fit even save you from. Foolish and shameless idiot.”
Prince Frank Laju said, “We have more mad media aides in Delta state than somewhere else….Make una small small use una data for this state o.”
Another commenter, Edhere Oreva-Oghene, said: “All the mad men under the newly constructed and old flyovers in Delta State
how many have Kelvin and the governor cured?”
Okotie Oghenesede added, “Indeed you are a fool and a tout. You don’t act like you are educated or have small courtesy. The boy of agbero is also an agbero.”
