Breaking:Osun Governor Dumps PDP, Joins Accord Party — Declares 2026 Re-Election Bid

By Passman Akpos
Osogbo witnessed political fireworks Tuesday evening as Governor Ademola Adeleke officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and declared for the Accord Party, unveiling a stunning plan to return in 2026 under his new banner.
The defection, which had been whispered in political circles for weeks, burst into reality inside the Banquet Hall of the Osun State Government House, where national and state leaders of the Accord Party gathered to welcome one of Nigeria’s most popular governors into their fold.
The move came just days after a resignation letter — dated November 4 — leaked online on December 1, shaking the PDP to its core and paving the way for its controversial primary that produced Adebayo Adedamola as the party’s flag bearer.
But Adeleke has now made it official — Accord Party is his new political home.
“I Joined Accord Party More Than a Month Ago!” – Adeleke Drops Bombshell
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the dancing governor confirmed that he joined the Accord Party on November 6, after “weeks of consultations and deliberations with stakeholders and opinion leaders.”
At the electrifying ceremony, Adeleke declared:
> “We opted for the Accord Party because its mission of welfarism aligns with our passionate focus on citizens’ and workers’ welfare.”
He further vowed that the Accord Party would now serve as the platform to deliver inclusive leadership, united governance, and renewed good governance across Osun State.
“Osun Voted for Good Governance in 2022, They Will Vote for Continuity in 2026!”
Addressing hundreds of cheering party loyalists, Adeleke reassured the people of Osun that his government would remain committed to social welfare, infrastructure uplift, and inclusive development.
He declared boldly:
> “From Osun West to Osun Central to Osun East, this is our platform for victory in August 2026. Accord is our party for victory!”

Adeleke emphasized unity and readiness heading into the 2026 political battle.

PDP COLLAPSES IN OSUN? POLITICAL EARTHQUAKE IMMINENT
With Adeleke’s defection, Osun’s political terrain has shifted dramatically, raising eyebrows and generating buzz nationwide. The PDP may face a major collapse as thousands of Adeleke loyalists are expected to cross over to the Accord Party in coming days.
The governor closed with a thunderous declaration:
> “In line with the will of our stakeholders and in respect of the wishes of the people of Osun State, I hereby declare for the Accord Party!”
