Governor Douye Diri Pledges Loyalty to Federal Government, Reaffirms Commitment to Bayelsans’ Welfare

Yenagoa, Bayelsa State – Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has pledged his administration’s full cooperation with the Federal Government in efforts aimed at improving the living standards of Nigerians, particularly the people of Bayelsa.
Speaking during the 176th Executive Council meeting held at the Government House in Yenagoa, Governor Diri emphasized that governance and politics should be instruments for development and not division. He urged political leaders and stakeholders to refrain from making unguided statements that could threaten peace and unity.
According to him, “I pledge our loyalty to work for a better Nigeria, to work in synergy with the Federal Government for the uplift of the standard of living of our people, and indeed to ensure that we are part of the process of building a new Nigeria.”
Governor Diri stressed the importance of love, unity, and collective effort in advancing the state’s and nation’s growth, stating that “the essence of politics is not to kill one another but to develop our people.”
The meeting, which had in attendance the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, also featured moments of recognition for Governor Diri’s achievements. He received the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Health Stakeholders’ Best Health Insurance Service Delivery Award, as well as the Distinguished Governor’s Award from the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in acknowledgment of his outstanding contributions to sports development and welfare initiatives in Bayelsa State.
Governor Diri expressed appreciation for the honors, dedicating the awards to the people of Bayelsa and reaffirming his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, infrastructural development, and the wellbeing of every citizen.
He reiterated that the journey toward a greater Bayelsa and a stronger Nigeria requires partnership, understanding, and a shared vision between the state and federal governments.
