The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, has been honoured at the 2025 BusinessDay Public Service Lecture Series and Excellence Awards. The ceremony, held yesterday at The Blanc Grand, Palms Hotel, celebrated outstanding Nigerians driving national development through exemplary leadership and service.
Reflecting on the recognition, Dr. Ogbuku described the award as humbling, stating that it was a privilege to stand among “distinguished leaders who are contributing meaningfully to the growth and transformation of our nation.”
This year’s event, themed “Shaping Nigeria’s Economic Future,” offered a vital platform for dialogue on the country’s development trajectory. The keynote address was delivered by former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim on behalf of former President Goodluck Jonathan, GCFR, underscoring the importance of purposeful leadership and cross-sector collaboration in building a prosperous and inclusive Nigeria.
Dr. Ogbuku dedicated the award to “the resilient people of the Niger Delta” and the NDDC team, applauding their unwavering commitment to sustainable regional development. He noted that the recognition reinforces the Commission’s determination to continue executing impactful projects and reforms capable of unlocking the region’s full economic potential.
The NDDC boss also expressed appreciation to BusinessDay for the honour and congratulated fellow awardees, assuring that collective efforts will continue to “shape a brighter economic future for Nigeria.”
