One dead, Others sustain injuries as Dickson Seriake convoy somersaults into forest

A convoy of the former Governor of Bayelsa state and a current senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sen. Henry Seriake Dickson, involved in a ghastly car accident- yesterday, One of the occupants already confirmed dead and several others sustained various degrees of injuries.
According to a statement made available to Tarakirivoice, Dickson was on his way to visit His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, the Governor of Bayelsa State as part of his usual Christmas and New Year visitations, a vehicle conveying some dignitaries skidded off the road and somersaulted into the forest. All occupants of the said vehicle were rescued and rushed to the hospital. They were promptly evacuated and taken to the Sagbama General Hospital for first aid to be administered in the course of which one among the occupants was confirmed dead. Others who sustained injuries were stabilized at the Sagbama General hospital and those with more serious cases were transferred to the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital, Okolobiri.
Dickson has carried out a similar visit to the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa state the previous day, according to him, he led the leadership of Bayelsa west to pay a customary New Year visit to the deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Senator Lawrence Ewrhudjakpor at his country home in Ofoni and they were as usual, warmly received by the entire Ofoni community and they were grateful to them. On behalf of the Bayelsa west Senatorial District, he expressed their gratitude for the warm and colorful reception accorded him and his entourage.
In his remarks, he joined the Senatorial Caucus Chairman, Honorable Fineman Wilson who conveyed the appreciation of the senatorial district to the deputy governor for his tireless and selfless service to the state and to people of the senatorial district by working to unify and mobilize the people of the state behind the state government.

Our heartfelt condolences, sympathy and grief goes to the family of the deceased who will be duly identified according to protocol after the family has been notified.
I thank the Governor and the Government of Bayelsa State who dispatched the Commissioner of Health, Professor Seiyefa Brisibe and others to the Sagbama General Hospital for prompt evacuation of the injured persons. I also thank the emergency medical team at the Sagbama general hospital for their prompt response and other medical professionals who volunteered, notably Hon. Dr. Godbless Oyinke, Chairman of the House of Assembly committee on Health, Dr. Tonbra Koroye, Head of Department, Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital, Okolobiri and others. I have been informed that all patients are receiving medical attention and have been confirmed to be stable.
Our prayers will continue to be with the family of the deceased and the community.
