Sunday Igboho Allegedly Dumps Yoruba Nation Agitation, Backs Tinubu After ‘Security Contract Approval’

By Passman Akpos

A fresh political controversy has erupted following a trending viral video in which popular Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, allegedly declared support for Nigeria’s president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, after claiming that his proposal for a massive security outfit had been approved.

In the widely circulated video on social media, Igboho reportedly announced that he had abandoned the agitation for an independent Yoruba nation and pledged full loyalty to President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to him, the president had accepted his proposal to establish a 50,000-personnel security outfit, a move he described as a sign of Tinubu’s goodwill toward him.

“I will use all my life to follow Tinubu. He will win second term. Baba Tinubu is a nice man,” Igboho allegedly stated in the video.

The self-styled activist also made controversial remarks, warning that anyone opposing his support for Tinubu would face severe consequences. In the same clip, he was heard threatening political opponents of the president.“I will make Tinubu’s opponents perish,” he reportedly declared while insisting that his security proposal had already received approval.

The claims have triggered widespread reactions across social media platforms, with many Nigerians expressing shock over the alleged shift in stance by the once-fierce Yoruba Nation campaigner.

Igboho rose to prominence during the peak of the Yoruba self-determination movement, where he strongly criticized the Nigerian government and demanded an independent Yoruba state.

Political observers say the alleged endorsement of President Tinubu—himself a prominent Yoruba political figure and leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress—could reshape conversations around regional agitation and national politics.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official confirmation from the presidency or relevant authorities regarding the alleged approval of the security contract mentioned in the viral video.

Analysts note that the development, if verified, may spark debate among supporters of the Yoruba Nation movement and raise questions about the future of the agitation.
