“TERROR ON IMO ROAD: Full Bus Vanishes On Owerri–Aba Highway — Travellers Panic Nationwide!”

By Passman Akpos

A fresh wave of fear has gripped travellers across the South-East after reports emerged on Tuesday morning that an entire bus conveying passengers from Owerri to Aba was allegedly kidnapped along the Ngor-Okpala axis of Imo State.

The disturbing incident, shared widely on social media, triggered instant panic as Nigerians lamented the growing insecurity on major highways—especially at a time when thousands prepare to travel for the festive season.

Witnesses and commenters online described the route as one they used “every time,” expressing shock that such an attack could occur despite the heavy presence of security checkpoints.

> “How person wan take travel this December?” one user wrote in frustration.“Journey mercies now no be beans,” another added.

Multiple posts showed people desperately asking which road was still safe in Imo and Abia states, with many urging family and friends to cancel all road trips until further notice.

Some travellers who had planned to use the Owerri–Aba route immediately announced they were suspending their journeys.

> “Stay where you are this December unless you dey fly,” one commenter warned.“Me I no travel again. Christmas can be done anywhere.”

Others expressed disbelief that such an abduction could take place along a route many considered relatively safe, while questioning the effectiveness of existing security deployment in the area.

Amid the panic, several commenters prayed for the safe return of the abducted passengers:

> “Ngor-Okpala kwa? They will be back soon in Jesus name,” one wrote.

Security agencies have not yet released an official statement confirming the incident, leaving residents anxious and demanding urgent action from authorities in Imo and Abia states to secure all major highways.

For now, fear continues to spread as many Nigerians reassess their Christmas travel plans in the face of rising uncertainty on the roads.
