Tinubu Sends Reno Omokri to Mexico, Fani-Kayode to Germany in Shock 65 Ambassadorial Shake-Up
ABUJA — Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of 65 ambassadors to various countries, months after their nominations were confirmed by the Senate in December.
Among the notable appointments, former presidential aide Reno Omokri has been posted to Mexico, while former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode will serve as Nigeria’s ambassador to Germany.
The approval marks a significant step in filling Nigeria’s diplomatic missions abroad, many of which had operated without substantive ambassadors for months following the recall of envoys shortly after the Tinubu administration assumed office.
According to sources familiar with the development, the 65 ambassadors will be deployed to various strategic missions across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Africa as part of the administration’s effort to strengthen Nigeria’s foreign relations, economic diplomacy, and international partnerships.
Diplomatic insiders say the new envoys are expected to focus on boosting trade, attracting foreign investment, and improving Nigeria’s global image.
The posting of Omokri to Mexico and Fani-Kayode to Germany has already sparked reactions across political circles, given their long-standing involvement in Nigeria’s political landscape and public commentary.
