Troops of Sector 2 (Sub-Sector 2) under Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP) have carried out a successful raid on a suspected gunrunners’ hideout in Fashoron Village, Daffo District of Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State.
The operation, conducted on 13 November 2025, was part of ongoing efforts to stem the activities of armed criminal groups across the Joint Operations Area (JOA). Although the suspects escaped before the arrival of the soldiers, the troops recovered a significant cache of weapons and other items.
According to Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, the troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, a Sub-Machine Gun (SMG), two Dane guns, 42 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, 84 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and twenty cartridges. Other items seized at the hideout include six mobile phones and ₦330,000 in cash.
All recovered materials are currently in military custody as efforts intensify to track down the fleeing suspects.
Major Zhakom reaffirmed the commitment of Operation ENDURING PEACE to rid the area of criminals involved in the proliferation of illegal weapons, noting that the Joint Task Force will continue to employ all legitimate measures to ensure lasting peace and security across Plateau State.
