Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for nominating General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd), OFR, as Nigeria’s next Minister of Defence, describing the appointment as “well-deserved, timely, and extraordinarily apt.”
In a detailed tribute issued on Tuesday, Governor Sani celebrated the former Chief of Defence Staff as an illustrious son of Kaduna State whose service, discipline, and patriotism have left indelible marks on Nigeria’s security architecture.
He thanked President Tinubu for what he called “a profound vote of confidence” in General Musa’s competence and character, noting that the nomination also reflects honour for the people of Kaduna State who hold the retired general in the highest regard.
“Once again, Mr. President has shown that he recognises and rewards excellence,” Sani said. “His nomination of General Musa reaffirms his resolve to strengthen our national security architecture at a time when the nation has declared a state of emergency on insecurity.”
Governor Sani recalled his close working relationship with General Musa, affirming that the retired military chief brought “uncommon discipline, strategic clarity, and humane leadership” to the Armed Forces during his service as Chief of Defence Staff. He credited Musa for rekindling operational synergy, restoring public confidence in the military, and playing a vital role in stabilising previously troubled communities in Kaduna State.
“For us in Kaduna State, General Musa’s nomination evokes deep gratitude,” he noted. “Since May 2023, he has been a steadfast ally in our quest to secure every community across our state. The modest yet significant gains we have recorded in security bear his enduring imprint.”
Governor Sani urged the Senate to give the distinguished officer expedited screening and confirmation, stressing that the nation stands to benefit immensely from his “experience, clarity of purpose, and unwavering patriotism.”
He concluded with a warm message of pride and celebration: “Congratulations, General Christopher Gwabin Musa. Nigeria salutes your service. Kaduna celebrates your ascent. And history, no doubt, will remember you kindly.”
The statement was signed by Senator Uba Sani, Governor of Kaduna State, on December 2, 2025.
