A 29-year-old woman, Blessing Ezioke, on Monday appeared before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly obtaining the sum of N3.5 million by fraud.
The defendant was arraigned before Magistrate L.K.J Layeni, on a two-count charge of obtaining by false pretence and stealing.
She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in September 2024, at the Trade Fair Complex in Ojo, Lagos.
Uche alleged that the defendant obtained the sum of N3.5 million from one Mr Edward Ezike and some others, with a promise to supply them Overa Haw Wax product.
According to him, the representation was said to be false as the defendant never made the supply, but dishonestly stole the money.
Uche said that the offences contravened the provisions of section 287 and 313 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Layeni granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
He adjourned the case until March 3 for mention.
