⚠️ SCAM ALERT: “Renewed Hope Citizens Grant” Preys on Nigerians During Christmas – Tarakirivoice Exposes Fraudsters

As Nigerians prepare for the festive season, a new scam disguised as a government-style empowerment program is targeting unsuspecting citizens, demanding money upfront under the guise of a “Renewed Hope Citizens Grant.” Tarakirivoice’s investigation has uncovered alarming details that Nigerians must heed.
The WhatsApp account in question operates under the name “Oluwakayode Akanni – Registration Official, Renewed Hope Citizens Grant”, reachable at +234 904 242 3045. The scammers also promote a website (https://citizensgrantrhing.surge.sh/) and an email (renewedhopecitizensgrant@gmail.com) to appear legitimate.
According to the messages collected during a Tarakirivoice sting operation, the perpetrators ask victims to pay a one-time fee of ₦9,950 for a “unique Cheque ID” to qualify for the so-called ₦350,000 grant. The process requests personal and banking information including full name, age, occupation, location, and proof of payment—all red flags for identity theft and financial fraud.
The scammers even included a mock Terms and Conditions, falsely signed by supposed directors Oladipo Opeyemi and Patience S. Ugwu, claiming to guarantee legitimacy. Their messages instruct victims to use Palmpay, citing “fast, secure, and reliable transactions,” a ploy to legitimize the scam and pressure people into paying immediately.

Tarakirivoice’s investigation confirms that no such government-backed grant exists. The scammers exploit the excitement of Christmas, using persuasive language and fake documentation to manipulate the public into sending money and sensitive data.

How Nigerians Can Protect Themselves:
Never pay upfront for grants or financial aid. Legitimate programs do not ask for money to qualify.
Verify official announcements via trusted government channels before providing personal information.
Report suspicious contacts and websites to authorities or credible media outlets.
