The Presidential Amnesty Program (PAP) has denied a purported statement credited to it calling on shortlisted persons for scholarship to proceed for clearance.
It admonished the public, particularly stakeholders to disregard the “fake” WhatsApp post.
A statement today by the Special Adviser(Media) to the Interim Administrator of Program, Freston Akpor, distanced itself and cautioned members of the public to be mindful of online scammers.
“Members of the public, particularly stakeholders of the Presidential Amnesty Programme are hereby cautioned to be mindful of an online statement calling on shortlisted persons for scholarship to proceed for clearance. The alleged statement credited to the PAP office and purportedly issued by the SA Media, is the handiwork of scammers and the PAP therefore distances itself from the WhatsApp post.
“The public is therefore advised to disregard the statement as the PAP had consistently cautioned that information on scholarship and training programs would be deployed on its official website and not through a WhatsApp number.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the PAP would not also ask anyone to make monetary payments for any of its formal and informal training programs,” the statement reads.
