Sowore, Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer Aloy Ejimakor, 12 Others Released From Kuje Prison After Meeting Bail Conditions

Human rights activist and presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore, alongside Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, and twelve other detainees, have been released from Kuje Correctional Centre after successfully meeting their bail conditions.
Their release reportedly took place on Monday afternoon, following several days of legal and administrative procedures to finalize the bail terms granted by an Abuja Federal High Court last week. The group had been remanded at Kuje Prison pending the fulfillment of the bail requirements, which were eventually met by their legal representatives and sureties.
Sources within the correctional facility confirmed the development, noting that the release orders were processed and executed in accordance with standard procedures. “They were officially discharged today after the verification of their bail documents,” a senior prison official told reporters.
Sowore, speaking briefly to journalists outside the prison gates, expressed relief at regaining his freedom and reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for justice and democracy in Nigeria. “Our detention only strengthens our resolve to continue the struggle for a freer and fairer Nigeria,” he stated.
Barrister Aloy Ejimakor also thanked supporters and legal colleagues who worked tirelessly to secure their release. “This is not just a personal victory, but a testament to the resilience of those who believe in due process and the rule of law,” he said.
While the details of their ongoing legal cases remain under judicial consideration, human rights organizations and civil society groups have welcomed the release, describing it as a “positive step” toward ensuring fairness in politically sensitive prosecutions.
