Former Aide Recounts How Ned Nwoko Met Regina Daniels, Sparks Reactions Online

By Passman Akpos
A former aide to billionaire businessman and Senator, Ned Nwoko, has shared a detailed account of how the lawmaker first met Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, shedding light on the early days of their relationship and the influence of Regina’s mother, Rita Daniels.
Mr. Ugaga, who identified himself as a former Special Assistant on Students Affairs to Nwoko, made the revelation in a lengthy Facebook post on Thursday. According to him, Regina Daniels’ first encounter with the senator took place in his hometown, Ugboko, during a scholarship program organized by the politician.
> “The day Regina Daniel and Ned first met in Ugboko, her mom brought her to apply for Ned Nwoko’s scholarship for undergraduates,” Ugaga wrote.“The scholarship coordinator, Okwuelum Sylvanus, refused to give her the form, insisting she wasn’t an indigent student. Then her mother started shouting that her daughter was qualified. Ned Nwoko came out, recognized Regina, and ushered them in.”
Ugaga claimed that at the time, the Daniels family lived in a rented flat at Akpu Junction Road, Asaba, before Nwoko began lavishing them with expensive gifts, including a Rolex watch, a Mercedes car, and eventually a mansion behind Sweet Spirit Hotel, Okpanam Road.
He further alleged that Ned performed a traditional ceremony known as Ishiegware for Regina’s mother, Rita Daniels, during one of his visits to Ugboko, gifting her $30,000 in the process.
> “From her reaction, you could tell she had never seen that kind of money before,” he added.
Ugaga also recounted incidents involving Regina’s younger brother, whom he claimed had multiple run-ins with the law. According to him, Ned repeatedly intervened to secure his release despite warnings that the young man needed to change his ways.
> “Ned once said it would be the last time he’d intervene for that boy. He was even arrested once in Lagos for beating up a DPO with his gang. Ned saved him,” the aide wrote.
Ugaga defended his former boss as a disciplined man, describing him as a vegetarian who neither drinks alcohol nor consumes carbonated beverages.
> “He only drinks water and Moroccan tea. He doesn’t eat meat or fish and doesn’t encourage anyone to drink alcohol,” he said.
The former aide, however, admitted that Regina’s arrival in Ned Nwoko’s life changed everything within the senator’s inner circle.
> “Ned Nwoko lost 90% of his die-hard followers and believers when Regina and her mom stepped in,” he wrote. “Many loyal associates like Barr. Nwakaegwu were sidelined.”
Ugaga ended his post by insisting that although he no longer works with Nwoko, “some lies cannot sell” about the senator’s generosity and personal discipline.
Nigerians React
Ugaga’s revelations sparked heated reactions across social media, with many Nigerians weighing in on the troubled marriage between Nwoko and Regina Daniels.#One user wrote:
> “If the lady is no longer interested in the marriage, Ned should let her go. You can’t force love no matter what you did for her in the past.”
Another commenter added:
> “You see men that don’t drink or smoke? Their weakness is usually women. Ned married up to four wives yet can’t let one go. He should focus on his senatorial duties.”
Some, however, sympathized with both parties, suggesting that the relationship was doomed from the start.
> “From the post, it’s clear her initial intention was scholarship, but comfort replaced it. Both parties are victims — one of money, the other of manipulation,” another user said.
Others urged the couple to resolve their differences privately:
> “What’s wrong with them settling their dispute as husband and wife? Every day a new story surfaces. This is getting embarrassing.”
Meanwhile, a few respondents recalled the Daniels family’s humble beginnings:
> “I remember how poor that woman was. She used little Regina to get what she wanted both on set and off it. I still remember when Ned gifted her that storey building before the marriage.”
As online debates continue, neither Senator Ned Nwoko nor Regina Daniels has officially responded to Ugaga’s claims.
