ABUJA — The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the sudden death of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Oborawharievwo Ewhrudjakpo, who reportedly collapsed and died earlier today.
In an official statement issued late Thursday by the National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the party described the loss as “inexplicable” and the pain it brings as “indescribable,” noting that the news has thrown the National Working Committee, led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, into profound grief.

“The entire membership of our great party, especially in Bayelsa State, has been devastated by this tragic news,” the statement read.
The PDP praised the late Ewhrudjakpo as a man of principle, conviction, and unwavering integrity—an “honest and consistent politician who practiced politics anchored on belief and strength of character.”
“Senator Ewhrudjakpo was a leader whose life reflected courage, loyalty, and commitment to justice. He remained firmly devoted to these virtues until his final moments,” the party said.
Describing him as “a hero of political integrity,” the PDP prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Bayelsa State.
“This is a painful and irreparable loss,” the statement added.
The party ended the release with its traditional slogan: “…PDP, Power to the People.”
