Atiku Fires Shot at Tinubu Govt: “Nigeria Won’t Become a One-Party State”

By Paul Ebi

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Friday received a delegation of African Democratic Congress (ADC) stakeholders led by Senator Abubakar Tutare, praising their renewed commitment to grassroots mobilisation and statewide membership drive aimed at strengthening the party’s structures.

Atiku, who shared details of the meeting, said he was impressed by the ADC’s resolve to expand its reach across all levels in the state, describing it as a necessary step toward building a “formidable and credible opposition.”

He accused the Tinubu-led APC administration of attempting to impose a one-party system on Nigerians, stressing that a vibrant opposition remains essential to democratic freedom and citizens’ right to choose.

“Against all efforts by the current Tinubu-led APC government to force one party on citizens, building a credible opposition to give our people a reliable option and freedom of choice cannot be taken lightly,” Atiku said.

He further urged the ADC delegation to prioritise youths and women in their mobilisation strategy.

“I encourage that special attention be given to youths and women. They are the future,” he added.

Senator Tutare and his team assured Atiku of their readiness to intensify grassroots engagement as preparations heighten ahead of upcoming political activities in the state.
