Ijaw Traditional and Owigiri Musicians Form Association, Hold Maiden Meeting in Warri

Warri, Delta State — The Indigenous Band Leaders Association of Ijaw Traditional and Owigiri Music has officially held its maiden meeting at the residence of renowned Ijaw musician, Barrister S. Smooth, in Warri.
The historic gathering brought together leading figures in Ijaw traditional music for an intensive discussion on how to advance the Ijaw nationality and preserve its rich cultural heritage through music.
During the meeting, members collectively resolved to establish a working executive body that will pilot the affairs of the association in the coming years, ensuring coordinated efforts to promote and sustain the Ijaw music industry.
To kick-start the process, an electoral committee was constituted, with Sir Abraham Young appointed as chairman. The committee has been tasked with conducting elections to fill key executive positions within the association.
The formation of the Indigenous Band Leaders Association marks a new chapter for Ijaw musicians, aimed at fostering unity, professionalism, and cultural pride through the vibrant sounds of Ijaw traditional and Owigiri music.
