Man Abandoned by Family Dies After Years of Struggle, Buried Quietly by Friends

A man whose heartbreaking story of family abandonment once drew sympathy from many has passed away and was laid to rest on Sunday, according to a touching post by John Francis Udosen, who had been closely involved in his care.
Udosen, who helped move the man into a home for the elderly, revealed to Tarakirivoice that the deceased had long been battling Parkinson’s disease and deep emotional trauma after being deserted by his wife and children.
> “The day he was to die, he told them to call me because it had been long since he saw me bring clothes for him to wear,” Udosen wrote. “Unfortunately, I wasn’t reachable that day. I got the news late that night and went there immediately. We had a small burial for him with his elder brother, who’s in his 80s.”
Surprisingly, the man’s children showed up for the burial—an appearance that stirred a mix of anger and pain. Udosen admitted he was furious at their presence but later chose to listen to them after calming down.
According to him, the tragic events began years ago when the man accused his wife of infidelity, claiming that their last child did not resemble anyone in his family. The accusation tore apart what was once a loving household, leading to constant arguments and emotional distance.
In a bitter turn, the man reportedly stopped catering for the child, refusing to pay school fees or provide care despite pleas from his wife and other children.
Three years ago, the situation reached a turning point when the child fell seriously ill. The family eventually agreed to conduct a DNA test to prove the child’s paternity.
> “The DNA test matched the man 99%,” Udosen recounted. “But sadly, a few weeks later, the child died. The shock of it all caused him to develop Parkinson’s disease.”
The devastating combination of guilt, illness, and family rejection left the man isolated until he was rescued and placed in an elderly home.
His quiet burial, attended only by a few people, marked a somber end to a life once filled with love but later consumed by mistrust and regret.
Udosen’s account has sparked emotional reactions online, with many calling it a sobering reminder of the consequences of broken trust and the need for compassion, even amid conflict.
