N140k ‘UK Brand’ Trap: Lagos Businesswoman Alleges R@pe, Blackmail in Ajao Estate Apartment

A Lagos-based content creator and thrift vendor, popularly known as Fems Thrift, has alleged that she and a friend were sexually assaulted after being lured to what was presented as a N140,000 modelling job in Ajao Estate, Lagos.
The young entrepreneur shared her account in an emotional video posted on her TikTok page, narrating how a supposed business opportunity turned into what she described as a traumatic ordeal.
According to Fems, initial contact was made on February 1 by a man who reached out to her via Instagram. The individual reportedly claimed he had recently returned from the United Kingdom to launch an international fashion brand in Nigeria and was seeking models to promote it on social media.
She said he offered her N140,000 for the assignment and assured her that a full production crew, including a make-up artist, would be on ground for the shoot.
Trusting the offer, Fems agreed to the job and scheduled the shoot for Friday, February 8. For safety reasons, she said she asked a friend to accompany her.@“My friend was already with me, so she accompanied me for safety,” she explained in the video
However, upon arriving at the Ajao Estate apartment around 11 a.m., the two reportedly discovered that the location was largely empty, with no visible production crew. The suspect allegedly told them the make-up artist had stepped out briefly and asked Fems to take a shower in preparation for filming, providing her with a robe.
Fems alleged that shortly after she complied, the man entered the room under the pretext of showing her how to lock the door. She claimed he then locked it himself and threatened both women, forcing them into compliance.
In addition to the alleged assault, Fems said their mobile phones were seized and that they were compelled to unlock private folders. She further claimed that personal files were transferred to the suspect’s device.
“He threatened me with my internet presence, saying if I spoke up, he would release my private videos now and in the future,” she said.The victims reportedly left the apartment between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The video has since gone viral, sparking outrage across social media platforms. Many Nigerians have called on the Lagos State Police Command to investigate the allegations thoroughly and ensure the suspect is identified and apprehended.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from law enforcement authorities regarding the incident. Advocacy groups have also used the moment to caution young creatives about verifying job offers and prioritising safety when meeting clients offline.
