Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has stirred warm reactions after publicly honoring several senior Nigerian lawmakers who once served alongside her late father, Dr. Jimoh Abdul Akpoti, in the country’s legislative history.
In a heartfelt message shared with supporters, the Kogi Central lawmaker reflected on the legacy of her late father, Dr. Jimoh Abdul Akpoti, who served as a member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives during the Nigerian Third Republic.
According to the senator, several respected political figures who once worked with her father have continued to show her kindness and solidarity in her political journey.
Among those she acknowledged were Senators Bilbis Ikra, Rufai Hanga, Lere Oyewumi and Tahir Monguno, who appeared with her father in a photograph she referenced.
She also noted that other prominent figures — including Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Ambassador Ahmad Madori and Senator Patrick Ndubueze — served in the same legislative chamber with her father, although they were not present in the picture.
Describing the senior lawmakers as her “distinguished uncles,” Akpoti-Uduaghan expressed deep appreciation for their continued encouragement and public support.
“Against all odds, these men have continued to show the finest intentions and have spoken the kindest words in my stead,” she said, noting that their support reflects both personal goodwill and enduring respect for the legacy of her late father.
She added that their gestures demonstrate how political relationships built decades ago continue to influence Nigeria’s leadership landscape today.
The senator concluded her tribute with prayers for the lawmakers, asking that God guide their paths and bless them for their kindness.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the Senate, is widely regarded as one of the prominent new-generation voices in Nigerian politics, often invoking the legacy of her father as a source of inspiration for her public service.
Her message has since drawn attention online, with supporters praising the rare display of cross-generational respect and loyalty within Nigeria’s political class.
