“Nigerians Starve, Leaders Parade Hummers!” — Obi Blasts ‘Luxury Vehicle Madness’ for 2027 Campaign

By Passman Akpos

In a blistering condemnation that has shaken the political landscape, former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has slammed the distribution of luxurious Hilux trucks and Hummer buses for 2027 campaign mobilisation, branding the move “profound insensitivity and a gross abuse of public trust.”

Obi, visibly outraged, declared that while Nigerians starve, suffer unemployment, and battle insecurity, leaders are parading brand-new Land Cruisers and Hummers like toy trophies, as though the agony of the masses is a distant inconvenience.

> “This tragic misplacement of priorities is unacceptable. Leadership should feed the hungry, heal the sick, secure the people—not parade luxury cars for campaign drama,” he fumed.

Across the nation, the backlash is intense. Families unable to send their children to school watch helplessly as government fleets shine in polished chrome. In hospitals where mothers die due to lack of basic supplies, the same leaders cruise past in vehicles worth the price of entire maternity wards.

Children drop out. Youths cling to hopelessness. Communities crumble under insecurity. And yet—Hummers roll, Hiluxes roar, Land Cruisers glisten.

> “This is not governance,” Obi thundered. “It is a betrayal—an insult to struggling Nigerians. We must stop this reckless wastefulness and restore dignity, empathy, and accountability.”

In a country gasping for solutions, the timing could not be more disturbing. To many, it feels like leaders are mocking hunger with horsepower, mocking poverty with petrol, and mocking insecurity with tinted glass and convoy sirens.

But Obi insists there is still hope:

> “Regardless of how bleak things appear today, a New Nigeria is not only necessary—it is possible.”

As public outrage mounts, one thing is crystal clear: Nigerians are done watching their future burn while politicians drive over the ashes in luxury SUVs.
