Abuja, Nigeria — In a move aimed at empowering the next generation of African innovators, U.S. tech giant Google is providing university students in Nigeria with free access to its advanced artificial intelligence tools. The initiative, announced by the U.S. Mission in Nigeria, seeks to democratize technology and enable young people to explore the rapidly growing innovation landscape across the continent.
Between October 7 and December 9, 2025, eligible Nigerian university students aged 18 and above can subscribe to 12 months of free access to the Google AI Pro plan. The program allows students to leverage cutting-edge AI technology for learning, research, and developing new solutions to local and global challenges.
Interested students can create an account at gemini.google/students to register for the free access.
The initiative highlights the growing collaboration between U.S. technology companies and African educational institutions, aiming to nurture talent and equip students with tools essential for the digital economy.
