Abuja, Nigeria — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to defeating terrorism and strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic relations with global partners in the ongoing fight against insecurity.
Speaking during a high-level security and diplomatic meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, President Tinubu emphasized that the safety and stability of Nigeria remain top priorities of his government. He reiterated that his administration is determined to dismantle terrorist networks, combat violent extremism, and restore peace across all regions of the country.
“The war against terror is one we must win — not only for Nigeria but for the stability of our region and the African continent,” Tinubu said. “We are enhancing intelligence sharing, deepening regional cooperation, and working closely with our international allies to ensure that no safe haven exists for those who seek to destabilize our nation.”
The President also expressed appreciation to Nigeria’s global partners, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union, for their continued support in the areas of intelligence, training, and military assistance.
National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, who briefed journalists after the meeting, reaffirmed that the government is intensifying counter-terrorism operations, particularly in the North-East and North-West regions.
“President Tinubu has directed all security agencies to work with renewed synergy and precision,” Ribadu said. “We are seeing significant results on the ground, and our collaboration with international partners continues to strengthen our capacity to deal with these threats decisively.”
In a related statement, the U.S. Embassy in Abuja welcomed President Tinubu’s renewed commitment, describing Nigeria as a “strategic ally” in the fight against global terrorism.
“The United States remains a steadfast partner to Nigeria in its efforts to promote peace, stability, and prosperity,” the statement read. “We commend the Tinubu administration’s determination to protect its citizens and uphold democratic values.”
The European Union Delegation to Nigeria also echoed similar sentiments, pledging continued cooperation in security, governance, and development.
Security analysts have lauded the President’s renewed stance, describing it as a strong signal to both local and international stakeholders.
Dr. Kabiru Adamu, a security expert, noted that “Nigeria’s strategic partnerships are vital to sustaining long-term success in counter-terrorism efforts. Tinubu’s reaffirmation of global cooperation shows an understanding that modern security challenges require a united front.”
The Presidency said the renewed commitment forms part of broader national security reforms, including intelligence modernization, the strengthening of border security, and increased support for communities affected by insurgency.
