Egbemo-Angalabiri Erupts in Joy as Gov. Diri Approves Landmark Road Project After Decades of Waiting

The people of Egbemo-Angalabiri community in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State have expressed profound appreciation to Governor Douye Diri for approving the construction of the Okunbiri–Eriama–Kunu–Adagbabiri–Ogbosuware–Egbemo-Angalabiri Road — a project they described as a “long-awaited dream come true.”
In a statement issued by the Paramount Ruler of the community, His Royal Highness Ogbolo Israel (IDO II), the monarch conveyed the gratitude of the Council of Chiefs, Community Development Committee, youth body, and residents, praising the Governor for his commitment to opening up hinterland communities and improving rural livelihoods through road infrastructure.
HRH Ogbolo Israel commended Governor Diri’s leadership, noting that the road approval marks a significant milestone for the community, which has waited decades for the project to move beyond the drawing board. He also extended appreciation to the Deputy Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mike Ogbere, for his role in facilitating the project.
According to the monarch, the new road will greatly enhance agriculture, ease transportation, and stimulate local economic activities, particularly for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). He emphasized that as a major oil-producing community that has contributed immensely to the state and nation’s economy, Egbemo-Angalabiri sees the development as both timely and impactful.
He highlighted that the gesture reflects the Governor’s ASSURED Prosperity Agenda, which prioritizes economic growth, social development, infrastructure expansion, environmental sustainability, and good governance.
Reaffirming the community’s support, the Amananaowei applauded the administration’s dedication to rural development, security, and other critical sectors. He also offered prayers for God’s continued guidance, wisdom, and good health for the Governor and his Deputy, expressing hope that Bayelsa will attain greater heights under their leadership.
