“After Years Of Division, Egbemo-Angalabiri Residents Unite In Historic Yenagoa Gathering”

The spirit of unity, brotherhood, and togetherness was on full display as indigenes of Egbemo-Angalabiri residing in Yenagoa gathered for a memorable community get-together hosted by Mr. Ismael Birinimughen at his residence.
The event, which resembled a mini carnival, attracted sons and daughters of the community who came together to celebrate friendship, peace, and the enduring bonds that unite the people of Egbemo-Angalabiri.
Speaking during the gathering, former Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman, Mr. Ade Pebor, reflected on the origin of the monthly unity meeting initiative. He recalled a time when Egbemo-Angalabiri was widely known for its strong culture of brotherhood and communal harmony.
According to him, while that spirit may have faded over the years, the community is gradually reclaiming its cherished values through regular interactions and gatherings such as the monthly residents’ meeting.
The event was attended by the current CDC Chairman, Hon. Connel Victor Okubo; the Youth President, Mr. Fresh Ebierede; and members of the Council of Chiefs, including High Chief Deme Kolomo, High Chief David Atiye, High Chief Osita Ambaka, and Chief Tarekakpo Palmer.
Delivering remarks on behalf of the Council of Chiefs, High Chief Deme Kolomo commended the organizers for initiating the monthly gathering of Egbemo-Angalabiri residents in Yenagoa.
He stressed that the greatest desire of the Council is to see the community remain united, peaceful, and progressive, adding that development can only thrive in an atmosphere of harmony and cooperation. He also praised Mr. Ade Pebor for successfully hosting the maiden edition of the gathering in May 2026.
In his remarks, the CDC Chairman, Hon. Connel Victor Okubo, expressed delight over the growing participation and renewed commitment to togetherness among community members. He described the initiative as a positive step toward strengthening relationships, fostering mutual understanding, and promoting unity among the people.
Hon. Okubo further appreciated Mr. Ade Pebor and Mr. Ismael Birinimughen for hosting the first and second editions of the monthly gathering respectively.
Special appreciation was extended to Mr. Ismael Birinimughen for his generosity in providing food and drinks for participants. Prayers were offered for God’s continued blessings upon him and all sons and daughters of Egbemo-Angalabiri Community.
The gathering ended on a joyful and optimistic note, with participants reaffirming their commitment to sustaining the initiative and strengthening the bonds of brotherhood within the community.
The next edition of the Egbemo-Angalabiri Residents’ Unity Gathering is scheduled to hold on July 30, 2026, and will be hosted by Mr. Ebikeseye Abiri.
