2027 Political Explosion! Atiku Fires Direct Shot At Tinubu: “Bola Cannot Use The Courts To Escape The People’s Verdict!” Vows: “We Are On The Ballot!”

by Passman Akpos

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has vowed to continue his 2027 presidential campaign despite a Federal High Court judgment invalidating his emergence as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, insisting that Nigerians must be allowed to determine the country’s political future through the ballot box.

Atiku, in a strongly worded statement dated November 6, 2026, declared that the latest court ruling should not be mistaken for the will of the Nigerian people, maintaining that no judicial manoeuvre, political pressure or alleged manipulation could silence his campaign.

The former Vice President, who served between 1999 and 2007, reaffirmed his commitment to the presidential race, declaring that he would not abandon his supporters or the political movement seeking to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

“Let no one mistake the latest court ruling for the will of the Nigerian people. No manipulation, conjecture or concoction can erase our place in this contest, silence our campaign or deny Nigerians the right to choose their future. We are on the ballot, and the people must be allowed to decide,” Atiku stated.

His declaration comes amid heightened political tension following Thursday’s judgment by Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja, which nullified the David Mark-led ADC leadership and invalidated the processes that produced Atiku as the party’s presidential candidate.

The ruling followed a suit instituted by former ADC Deputy National Chairman, Nafiu Bala Gombe, who challenged the legitimacy of the party’s leadership structure.

The judgment has thrown the ADC’s preparations for the 2027 elections into uncertainty, with the party and Atiku indicating their intention to challenge the decision through the appellate courts.

ATIKU ACCUSES TINUBU’S GOVERNMENT OF WEAKENING OPPOSITION

In his statement, Atiku accused the ruling political establishment of allegedly deploying political pressure, courtroom manoeuvres and manufactured narratives to weaken opposition parties and undermine democratic competition.

He questioned why a government claiming to have the support of 32 governors would allegedly resort to tactics aimed at frustrating opposition candidates instead of allowing a free, fair and credible electoral contest.

The former Vice President also raised concerns over alleged attempts to compromise the voters’ register through artificial intelligence-generated photographs, false names and fictitious identities.

According to Atiku, such alleged developments could undermine the credibility of the electoral process and potentially push Nigeria towards a one-party state.

He maintained that political leaders who genuinely believe in their popularity and achievements should have no reason to fear a competitive election.

“If those in power believe in their numbers and their record, let us meet at the polls in a free, fair and credible contest,” he declared.

The allegations concerning electoral manipulation and political interference were contained in Atiku’s statement and were not independently established in the statement itself.

ATIKU BLASTS TINUBU OVER ECONOMIC HARDSHIP, RISING COST OF LIVING

Atiku also launched a fresh attack on the economic policies of the Tinubu administration, accusing the Federal Government of worsening the living conditions of millions of Nigerians.

He criticised the removal of the petrol subsidy, the depreciation of the naira, escalating food prices, business closures and the growing insecurity across the country.

According to him, the government’s economic policies have placed unbearable pressure on ordinary Nigerians, with families struggling to afford basic necessities.

The former Vice President argued that the economic hardship facing the country should be a central issue in the 2027 presidential election.

He further lamented the increasing number of young Nigerians leaving the country in search of better opportunities, while banditry and kidnapping continue to threaten communities.

“Market stalls stand empty. Feeding your family has become a daily struggle. Fuel prices keep rising, and silent pain fills homes across the country,” Atiku stated.

He urged Nigerians not to surrender their democratic rights despite the prevailing economic difficulties, insisting that their votes remain the most powerful instrument for changing the country’s leadership.

“I AM NOT GOING ANYWHERE” — ATIKU REJECTS PRESSURE TO ABANDON RACE

In a direct message to his supporters, Atiku dismissed any suggestion that the latest court ruling would force him out of the presidential contest.

He declared that his campaign would continue and that he remained committed to challenging the ruling APC and its political leadership.

“Let me be clear to every Nigerian who has stood with us: I am in this race. I am not going anywhere. We will be on the ballot. No threat, blackmail or court manoeuvre will make me abandon you or the cause we share,” he said.

Atiku further vowed to resist what he described as attempts to transform Nigeria into a one-party state, warning that the country’s democracy must remain open to competing political voices.

He stressed that the political future of Nigeria should not be determined by courtrooms alone but by the collective decision of citizens during elections.

ATIKU: “BOLA CANNOT USE THE COURTS TO ESCAPE THE JUDGMENT OF NIGERIANS”

The former Vice President concluded his statement with a direct political challenge to President Tinubu, insisting that the Nigerian electorate must ultimately determine who governs the country.

“Let me say this plainly: Bola cannot use the courts to escape the judgment of Nigerians at the ballot box,” Atiku declared.

He called on his supporters to remain calm, united and resolute while his political camp pursues the available legal options.

Atiku also vowed that his campaign’s message on economic hardship, affordability and democratic accountability would not be derailed by the ongoing legal controversy.

The ADC’s rejection of the judgment and its announced intention to appeal have further intensified the political and legal battle surrounding the opposition party’s 2027 presidential ambition.

With the ruling potentially affecting other ADC candidates, the unfolding dispute is increasingly becoming a major test of Nigeria’s electoral democracy and the ability of opposition parties to participate in the forthcoming general elections.
