“26 Rivers Lawmakers Unite, Hand Tinubu a Loud Second-Term Call in Dramatic Plenary Session!”

The Rivers State House of Assembly has passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and formally called on him to contest for a second term in office. The resolution was adopted on Wednesday during the Assembly’s 37th Legislative Sitting.

The motion—signed by all 26 members—was moved by the House Leader, Hon. Major Jack, who highlighted what he described as President Tinubu’s “fatherly role” to all Nigerians and his consistent support for the people of Rivers State. Jack noted that the President has demonstrated goodwill toward the state through the appointment of distinguished Rivers indigenes to key federal positions.

Lawmakers who contributed to the debate listed several ongoing federal projects across Rivers State, as well as appointments extended to their constituents. They praised the administration’s economic policies, saying the reforms have increased revenue inflows to both state and local governments.

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule, described President Tinubu as “a compassionate father of the nation” committed to transforming Nigeria’s economic landscape. He recalled recent engagements between prominent Rivers stakeholders and the President, noting that Tinubu had fulfilled his promises—including appointing 39 Rivers indigenes into federal positions of trust.

When the motion was put to vote, the House adopted it unanimously, resolving to:

Pass a vote of confidence on President Tinubu for what it termed purposeful leadership

Commend the President for his appointments and federal projects in Rivers State

Reaffirm the House’s loyalty and support to the President through the FCT Minister, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike

Call on President Tinubu to run for a second term in office

Direct all members to begin sensitization and mobilization of their constituents for the Renewed Hope Agenda
