A 35-year-old man, Arowolo Victor, on Friday appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged burglary and stealing of items worth N360,000.
Victor, whose address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge of burglary, unlawful entry and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Feb.19 at Zone 11, Road 2, Olorunsogo area of Ado-Ekiti.
Adeniyi said that the defendant unlawfully entered into the house of the complainant, one Mr Asaolu Temitope and stole items worth N360,000.
According to him, the defendant stole a Samsung S10 plus valued at N280,000, a palm slippers valued at N35,000 and a 22.5 watts power bank valued at N45,000, belonging to the complainant.
He said the offences contravened Sections 322(a), 323(2) and 302 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor asked for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
Counsel to the defendant, Mrs Joy Raphael, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Ajibade, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until March 24 for hearing.
