CULTISM: business owners laments over insecurity and crime in Bayelsa

Some business owners doing business at Yenezue-gene area of Yenagoa, Bayelsa state has lamented the high rate of crime and criminality by some youths in the area.
A business woman who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity on Tuesday April 6, 2021, said they are living in fear as they are sleeping with one eye closed, stating that there is no form of security in the area.
‘’We are doing business here in fear and we cannot sleep in the night with eyes close because criminals will break into our shops,’’ she said.
Another business man, Uche Kinsley, said some youths in the state are not properly engaged or they have what to do but chose to be lazy. He said, ‘’they want a faster income and cultism is a key factor of insecurity in the state’’.
On his part, Police Public Relation Officer, Bayelsa state command, SP Asinim Butswat said no raise in crime based on available report to police responsibility in the society.
‘’crime is crime, it is only people that perpetrate crime that knows what caused them,’’ he said.
SP Butswat appealed to members of the public to contribute or take active participation to help the Police which will go a long way in putting an end to the insecurity and criminality in Bayelsa state thereby calling the police hotline: 080801805641, 07068106424
