Bayelsa State volunteer apprehends a notorious gangster and serial rapist in Tombia axis

A suspect identified to be a notorious gangster and serial rapist who has been terrorizing innocent citizens in the Tombia axis , has been arrested by the Bayelsa State volunteers special squad, led by Hon. Oyinkuro lucky Asanakpo, at about 11:30pm on Monday evening 12th April 2021.
The young man simply identified as Bright Odigu from Imiringi community in Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa State, was arrested after robbing a POS kiosk, a barber’s shop at Bossy water, in Tombia Junction. He was caught with clippers and phones taken from victims at the shop.
The suspect who is said to be a member of the Bobos confraternity has been on the watch list of the agency for over six months because of his notorious activities under the Tombia bridge where he raped a victim at gunpoint.
He was said to have been robbing female students heading to Amassoma especially at night. He usually rape and rob his victims at the same time.
The acting chairman of the agency, Hon. Oyinkuro Lucky Asanakpo, who spoke to the Newsmen after the raid in the evening , condemned the act of Mr. Odigu and several others.
“ I am particularly happy that we have been able to apprehend Mr. Odigu who has been on our watch list. We have been monitoring him all the night and several others are equally on our list waiting to be arrested unless they repent now.”
“let me use these opportunity to send clear warning signals to all others operating within and outside the Tombia axis , that we shall not relent in carrying out our operations anytime of the day from now onwards because of the continued activities of criminals in the city center, “. He said.
He warned that the security outfit has set its compass all over the metropolis to rid the streets of criminals and gangsters adding that citizens should report any strange movements to either the police or his office.
Meanwhile , Bright Odigon has since been handed over to the anti-kidnapping unit of the police force for proper prosecution and arrangement before a competent court of jurisdiction for criminal trial and conviction.
