Group demands inclusiveness, makes peaceful walk to Bayelsa Gov’t House

A group of Non-Governmental Organisations under the aegis of Bayelsa Unite for Douye Diri (BUD-NGOs) on Wednesday, made a solidarity match to government house in Yenagoa.

One of the leaders of the group, Kenneth Diri, explained that BUD-NGOs is a body made up of various NGOs who worked tirelessly for the governor during the last governorship election, noting that they came to show their solidarity  with the government. He, however, pointed out that the group has been neglected since the governor’s assumption of office, hence the walk to remind him.

Another leader of the body, George Edigbe, applauded the governor for his human capital and infrastructural development within the short term he has spent in office. He reaffirmed their total support for the governor and the people’s democratic party at all levels.

Godspower Benakiegha, who presented a memo on behalf of the group to the governor, disclosed that several similar memos had been sent previously to the governor but yet to get any reply. He pleaded with the governor to attend to the memos and give them a positive response.

Addressing the crowd, the Chief of Staff, Government House, Benson Agadaga, who was accompanied by Special Adviser on NGOs, thanked them for the support and promised to convey their message to the governor for prompt action, stressing that the government is a listening one and is ready to look at the demands.

Our correspondent reports that a document containing their demands was given to the Chief of Staff which was signed by the Special Adviser on NGOs, Obriki Sylbriks.

The solidarity movement which started at the Ompadec primary school field and came to a climax at the government house, Bayelsa state.
