33-year old man arraigned over alleged land grabbing, stealing

The police on Tuesday arraigned a 33-year-old man, Femi Olalekan, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, over alleged land grabbing and stealing.
Olalekan, whose address was not provided was charged with conspiracy, land grabbing, stealing, forcible entry and conduct likely to cause the breach of peace.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, Insp, Femi Omilana, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometimes in 2024, at Badeku area of Ibadan.
Omilana said the defendant forcibly entered the real property of Mr Abideen Oladeji with the purpose of grabbing his land.
He alleged that the defendant stole some palm fruits in the farm and prevented Oladeji and his family from entering the farm.
He said the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace by engaging in such acts.
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 516, 81, 390(9) and 249(d) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Adebola Adeola, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.
Adeola said the sureties must be gainfully employed and resident within the jurisdiction of the court.
She, thereafter, adjourned the case until March 11, for hearing.
