Deji Adeyanju Slams Supporters of Peter Obi, Dismisses Allegations of Working for Tinubu

Human rights activist and political commentator Deji Adeyanju has fired back at supporters of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, accusing them of spreading false narratives and propaganda against him and other activists.
In a post shared on his social media pages, Adeyanju criticized what he described as the “clownish” behavior of Obi’s supporters, who allegedly claim that activist Omoyele Sowore and others are working for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
> “Once you start explaining yourself, they have won. Imagine clowns working for Peter Fraudulent Obi saying the great Sowore is working for Tinubu, lmao. If anyone says I am working for Tinubu, I will ignore them and say they should go and continue to work for their social media president too. They are paid to run these propaganda and the Tinubu government love the narrative,” Adeyanju wrote.
Adeyanju’s remarks come amid renewed tensions between supporters of Nigeria’s major political figures — President Tinubu, former Anambra governor Peter Obi, and activist-politician Omoyele Sowore.
The social media space has become increasingly polarized since the 2023 general elections, with online loyalists of different political camps often clashing over allegations of bias, corruption, and loyalty.
Adeyanju, known for his outspoken criticism of successive governments, maintained that he would not engage in explanations or defenses against what he described as “coordinated propaganda.”
Observers say the activist’s latest comments highlight the deepening rift among Nigeria’s political and activist communities, where accusations of political alignment are frequently used as tools of discredit.
Neither Obi’s media team nor Sowore has publicly responded to Adeyanju’s comments as of press time.
