We’ve Received Threats To Bomb National Assembly — Reps Committee Chairman Raises Alarm

The Chairman of a key House of Representatives Committee has disclosed that members of the National Assembly have received alarming threats from unidentified individuals threatening to bomb the legislative complex in Abuja.
Speaking during a committee session on Tuesday, the lawmaker, whose name was not immediately disclosed, expressed grave concern over the increasing security threats targeted at federal lawmakers and the National Assembly as an institution.
According to him, “We’ve received credible intelligence and direct threats to bomb the National Assembly complex. This is a serious issue that calls for immediate security reinforcement and investigation.”
He called on security agencies, particularly the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force, to intensify surveillance and strengthen the security architecture around the National Assembly to forestall any possible attack.
Lawmakers at the session reportedly expressed unease over the threats, with some describing the situation as “a direct attack on democracy and national stability.”
The development comes amid growing concerns about insecurity across parts of the country and the increasing wave of threats to public institutions.
Security operatives have since been placed on high alert within and around the National Assembly complex, with visitors undergoing stricter screening procedures.
While investigations are ongoing, the leadership of the House has assured members and staff of their safety, emphasizing that the National Assembly will not bow to intimidation or threats designed to destabilize the nation’s democratic process.
