IGP Egbetokun Appoints AIG Nkechi Eze as Pioneer Director of Newly Upgraded Force Medical Directorate

By Paul Ebi

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has announced the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Nkechi Eze, BDS, MPH, fspsp, as the pioneer Director of the newly established Directorate of Force Medical Services.

This appointment follows the recent upgrade of the Nigeria Police Force Medical Section to a full-fledged Directorate — a major milestone in the ongoing reform efforts aimed at improving the welfare and healthcare delivery system within the Force.

AIG Nkechi Eze, a distinguished clinician, dental surgeon, and seasoned administrator, brings over 27 years of meritorious service and leadership to her new role. Born in Umuahia, Abia State, and a native of Agbudu in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, Eze holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife, and a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Benin.

Throughout her career, AIG Eze has served in various police formations across Oyo, Ekiti, Rivers, the Federal Capital Territory, and Lagos, where she made significant contributions to advancing police medical services and enhancing the welfare of officers and their families.

While congratulating AIG Eze on her appointment, IGP Egbetokun urged her to use her wealth of professional and administrative experience to transform the Directorate into a model of excellence in healthcare delivery. He emphasized that the creation of the Directorate represents a strategic investment in the health, morale, and productivity of police personnel nationwide.

“The well-being of officers is central to the operational efficiency of the Force,” the IGP stated, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to comprehensive police reforms that prioritize personnel welfare.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday, October 30, 2025, by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, anipr, mipra, from the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
