The Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Mr. Peter Obi, has reiterated his commitment to prioritising education and healthcare as key drivers of national development.
Obi made this known on Friday, November 7, during his visit to the construction site of the Annunciation Hospital College of Nursing Sciences in Emene, Enugu State — a project founded by the Daughters of Divine Love Congregation.
During the visit, the former Anambra State governor commended the Congregation for their dedication to human development through compassionate service and quality healthcare delivery. He urged them to remain steadfast in their mission to produce competent and compassionate healthcare professionals who will contribute meaningfully to the nation’s progress.
As part of his support, Obi announced an additional donation of ₦20 million to the ongoing construction and equipping of the institution, bringing his total contribution to ₦120 million.
He stressed that Nigeria’s development must be built on a strong foundation of human capital through investment in education and healthcare, noting that these sectors are indispensable to eradicating poverty and achieving sustainable growth.
> “We cannot build a truly prosperous nation without prioritising these critical areas of development. The journey to a New Nigeria must be anchored on education, healthcare, and poverty eradication,” Obi said.
He concluded his message with his familiar call for hope and national renewal, affirming that “A New Nigeria is POssible.”
