Maiduguri, November 13, 2025 – Rear Admiral Olusegun Soyemi, Flag Officer Commanding Special Operations Command (SOC), has completed his first operational assessment visit to the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in Maiduguri.
The two-day visit, held from November 12 to 13, focused on strengthening joint operations, assessing operational readiness, and addressing challenges in the fight against insurgency and terrorism.
Rear Admiral Soyemi praised the collaborative efforts of OPHK components and highlighted the importance of deeper operational jointness, saying it enhances flexibility, resilience, and information dominance. He noted that Naval intervention in the theatre would act as a force multiplier while boosting the region’s economic potential.
“The Nigerian Navy Special Operations will continue to support national security objectives through coordinated command and control mechanisms, particularly via Naval Base Lake Chad,” he said.
OPHK Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, commended the Navy for its support, emphasizing the maritime component’s critical role in ensuring operational success and securing the battle space for both security and economic benefits.
The visit concluded with the presentation of a souvenir to the FOC and a group photograph to mark the occasion.
