Matawalle Storms North West War Theatre, Promises Bigger Firepower for Troops

The Honourable Minister of State for Defence, His Excellency Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, MON, the Matawallen Maradun, on Friday paid a courtesy visit to the Theatre Command Headquarters of the Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) shortly after observing Juma’at prayers at the command’s mosque on 14 November 2025.
Receiving the Minister, the Theatre Commander, Major General Warrah Bello Idris, expressed profound appreciation for the visit, describing it as a strong reassurance of the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to ongoing military operations in the North West. He noted that the presence of the Minister would further boost troop morale at a critical time in the fight against criminal elements.
Dr. Matawalle, in his address, commended the troops for their dedication, courage, and sacrifice in safeguarding lives and restoring security across the region. He urged them to remain steadfast, vigilant, and resolute as the military intensifies efforts to restore lasting peace and stability.
The Minister reaffirmed the Federal Government’s readiness to strengthen the operations through enhanced logistics, resources, and improved welfare packages for personnel. He applauded the leadership of the Theatre Command for the progress recorded so far and stressed the need for continuous collaboration among all security agencies to sustain the gains made.
Highlights of the visit included a comprehensive briefing by the Theatre Commander on current operations, presentation of souvenirs to the Minister, and an interactive session with troops during which Dr. Matawalle expressed deep gratitude for their professionalism and patriotism.
The visit further underscores the government’s commitment to supporting frontline troops as they continue to confront threats aimed at destabilising the North West.
