The Zonal Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the South South and Chairman of the Bayelsa State Caretaker Committee, Hon. George Turnah, MON, has dismissed as “frivolous and laughable” a viral report alleging he was expelled from the party at a social gathering in Ibadan, Oyo State.
In a statement issued by his media assistant, Kelvin Loveday Egbo, Turnah described the claim as fake, baseless, and a desperate fabrication by political opportunists seeking attention.
According to him, no legitimate PDP National Convention has been held anywhere in Nigeria since 2022, when the last convention was conducted to nominate the party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 elections. He added that the party’s constitution clearly stipulates offences and disciplinary procedures, all of which guarantee the right to fair hearing — a process that was never triggered in this case.
Turnah reaffirmed that he remains a bonafide and duly elected official of the PDP, stressing that his commitment to the party’s ideals is unwavering. He also reiterated his loyalty to the party’s National Leader and Minister of the FCT, H.E. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, describing it as “steadfast and unshakeable.”
He urged party members and the general public to ignore the fake report entirely, dismissing it as “good radiance to bad rubbish.”
The statement concluded by calling for focus on genuine party activities rather than politically motivated distractions.
