IJAW: “Arogbo Deserves Better”: Idepe Etufar Decries Rot in Schools, Clinics and Rural Infrastructure

By Passman Akpos

A community advocate, Idepe Etufar, has raised the alarm over what he described as “unacceptable neglect” of public facilities across villages in Arogbo, calling for urgent action to restore basic services and dignity to the people.

Etufar, in a strongly worded statement accompanied by disturbing images, said the condition of Opugbini School and other community facilities should “trouble every conscience that still cares about Arogbo.”

According to him, the dilapidation captured in the photos is not an isolated case but a reflection of years of abandonment across the area’s schools, clinics, roads, and essential services.

“What you see is not a forgotten corner of the world. This is Opugbini School, a place where children should be learning with pride and safety. Yet the classrooms have become shadows of what a community deserves,” he lamented.

He noted that Arogbo residents have repeatedly cried out for government attention without receiving meaningful intervention. “Leadership is not a title. It is responsibility. It is presence. It is the courage to confront decay and restore dignity. That duty has been ignored for too long.”

Etufar announced that he will embark on a personal visit to the affected villages in the coming days to assess the situation firsthand, stressing that the move is not politically motivated but driven by concern for the people.

“No child should sit in a broken classroom. No mother should walk miles to find a working clinic. No community should feel abandoned,” he said. “Arogbo deserves better than this silence.”

He urged leaders at all levels to rise to their responsibilities, warning that if they fail to act, the people must begin to chart a new course that rejects “failure as our future.”

“The truth is before us,” he said. “And it can no longer be ignored.”
