“Terror at Home: Kidnappers Film Pregnant Woman Begging for Life in Edo—Nation in Shock!”

.........Kidnappers Release Disturbing Video of Abducted Couple in Edo, Demand Ransom

By Passman Akpos

Aviele Community, Edo State — Tension has gripped Aviele, a community near Auchi in Edo State, after armed kidnappers released a distressing video of a husband and wife who were abducted from their home.

In the video, the visibly traumatized husband is seen holding onto his wife—who he tearfully explains is pregnant—as they plead for help. Armed men wielding rifles stand around them, allegedly forcing the couple to appeal for ransom payment to secure their freedom.

Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu, who shared details of the incident, called on both the Federal Government and Edo State Government to act swiftly.

> “I am alerting the Federal Government and State Government to respond faster and restore peace to our communities,” Gwamnishu said, lamenting the repeated cases of violent abductions in the region.

He added, “God, this is becoming too much for Nigeria. Please have mercy.”

Residents Express Fear, Anger, and Frustration

Following the video, residents and Nigerians online expressed deep concern over the growing trend of kidnappers targeting homes instead of ambushing victims on highways.

One resident recounted a recent incident:“My neighbor was entering her gate when she was kidnapped.”

Others warned that many kidnappings involve surveillance by criminals posing as passersby:“You think everyone passing your house is innocent? Many are scouting for their next target.”

Another commenter urged caution:“Everybody must be security conscious. If you live close to the bush and come home at odd hours, you put yourself at risk.”

Many lamented the worsening insecurity:

“At this point, even Togo better pass Nigeria.”

“Even traveling home for Christmas is risky now.”

“Oh Lord, show mercy and deliver this couple.”

Debate Over Security, Community Protection, and National Identification@The incident has revived nationwide debate on the need for stronger community vigilante systems

improved police response,

better national identification and documentation systems to curb criminal anonymity, and

stricter control of illegal arms.

Some citizens argue that lack of proper biometric registration nationwide continues to hinder security operations.

Calls for Government Intervention Intensify

There were urgent demands for decisive action, with some residents referencing previous government negotiations with kidnappers:

“Let the president and service chiefs intervene like they did with the abducted Kebbi students.”

Others questioned the growing access to sophisticated weapons:

“How are criminals getting AK-47s? Every ransom only helps them buy more weapons.”

Amid the outcry, several voices emphasized that security agencies—supported by community youth and vigilantes—must coordinate to track the kidnappers’ hideouts before they relocate deeper into surrounding forests.

Community in Fear as Search Continues

As of now, authorities have not released an official statement on the incident. Families and residents of Aviele remain anxious for the safe return of the pregnant woman and her husband.
