“NOWA Takes Over Naval HQ: Aisha Idi Abbas Unveils Bold Welfare Revolution for Navy Families”

The National President of the Naval Officers’ Wives Association (NOWA), Mrs. Aisha Idi Abbas, on Friday, 28 November 2025, led a high-powered delegation of the association on a courtesy visit to the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, at the Naval Headquarters in Abuja.
Welcomed with full protocol, Mrs. Abbas expressed profound appreciation to the CNS for what she described as unwavering institutional support to the association. She traced NOWA’s long-standing contributions to the stability, wellbeing and morale of naval families, stressing that the association remains a vital pillar in the social structure of the Nigerian Navy.
Reeling out an ambitious welfare blueprint, the NOWA President announced several new initiatives designed to strengthen the social safety net for officers’ wives and families. She stated that her administration would “work tirelessly to enhance the positive image of NOWA and ensure that every naval home feels supported, included and empowered.”
Mrs. Abbas also sought sustained collaboration and backing from the Chief of the Naval Staff to enable the association deliver effectively on its programmes and expand its outreach.
In his response, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas commended the president and members of the association for their commitment and vision. He urged NOWA to extend its engagements to include the wives of naval ratings, emphasizing that unity and welfare across all ranks are essential to the operational efficiency of the Nigerian Navy.
The CNS further encouraged the association to scale up its philanthropic interventions, especially initiatives targeted at the less privileged, describing such outreach as a core societal responsibility.
The visit reaffirmed the strong partnership between the Nigerian Navy and NOWA in building stronger families, supporting personnel and fostering community development.
