Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode (FFK), has condemned what he described as a “shameless and nauseating” media campaign against the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, accusing the opposition of deliberately spreading false narratives.
In a strongly worded statement, FFK lauded Matawalle’s loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and praised his unwavering commitment to the fight against terrorism.
According to Fani-Kayode, the combination of Matawalle and the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has delivered the most significant counterterrorism achievements in recent years.
> “The killing of more terrorists in the last two years far surpasses what was recorded in the previous eight years put together,” FFK declared, lamenting that these results have not been publicised.
He described Matawalle as a “ruthless and courageous fighter” and urged him to remain focused despite what he characterised as ‘bad belle’ distractions by political rivals.
The former minister further expressed optimism over the recent appointment of General Christopher Musa as Minister of Defence, saying the trio of Musa, Ribadu, and Matawalle, alongside the new service chiefs, would deliver even greater results in safeguarding national security.
> “We are with you, my brother, and more importantly, God is behind you,” FFK wrote, maintaining his confidence in Matawalle’s loyalty and efficiency.
He encouraged the Minister of State for Defence to “keep up the good fight” and “give the enemies and troublers of our nation hell,” affirming that many Nigerians stand solidly behind him.
