Kaduna — The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has commissioned multiple infrastructural and capacity–enhancement projects under the NATAP 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 JAMB Intervention Awards at Kaduna Polytechnic.
The projects include a new medical laboratory building for the Shehu Kangiwa Medical Center, a crime investigation office, supply of ICT accessories, renovation of Blocks A and B of the Applied Science Department, and an upgrade of the institution’s Spider FM Radio station.
“Boost to Healthcare and Education”
Oloyede said the newly commissioned medical laboratory would significantly strengthen the healthcare delivery system within the polytechnic and the wider Kaduna community.
He commended the foresight of Kaduna Polytechnic’s management team for steering purposeful development.According to him, “the institution has shown vision in expanding educational infrastructure and service delivery.”
How Kaduna Polytechnic Qualified
The JAMB registrar outlined the criteria for the national award, explaining that:
Institutions with the highest number of admission seekers were prioritised.
Those admitting students from all states and the FCT were considered.
Additional considerations included foreign admissions, gender balance, and strict compliance with admission regulations.
He revealed that all evaluations are validated by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) to ensure transparency and eliminate bias.
Calling for unity, Oloyede urged tertiary institutions nationwide to operate an inclusive admissions process, warning against tribal bias and emphasising national cohesion.
Governing Council Commends Development Drive
The Chairman of the Governing Council, Barr. Oluwakemi Pinheiro, described the day as a milestone for education and community growth.
He praised both the JAMB registrar and Kaduna Polytechnic’s rector, Dr. Suleiman Umar, for championing sustainable institutional development, saying the projects would serve “the entire community, not just staff and students.”
Demonstrating personal commitment, Pinheiro announced that he has donated his sitting allowance to support indigent students in line with the institution’s mandate to promote education.
He lauded the management for “consistency, credibility, and unwavering commitment to excellence,” adding that the JAMB intervention funds were “utilized with utmost prudence and purpose.

Pinheiro reassured development partners including JAMB and TETFund that Kaduna Polytechnic would continue to be a responsible steward of every resource entrusted to it, promising transparency, accountability, and measurable impact.
The commissioned facilities are expected to boost healthcare services, enhance research capacity, strengthen ICT resources, and broaden campus-wide communication, marking a major leap in Kaduna Polytechnic’s service to its community and Nigeria at large.
