Ayakoro Community Bids Emotional Farewell to Paramount Ruler, Righteous Inegbagha

By Passman Akpos

Ayakoro community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State was thrown into a mood of deep reflection and mourning on Saturday, December 13, 2025, as it laid to rest its revered Paramount Ruler, His Royal Highness, Late Righteous Inegbagha.

Describing the day as one of sober remembrance, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku said the passing of the monarch marked the loss of a father, guide and moral compass whose life exemplified the highest ideals of leadership, humility and service to humanity.

Dr. Ogbuku, who served as Deputy Paramount Ruler during the late monarch’s reign, recalled working closely with him and witnessing humility in its purest form. He noted that the late Inegbagha was endowed with rare intelligence and wisdom, qualities that defined his leadership and endeared him to the people of Ayakoro throughout his 20-year reign.

According to him, the late ruler was not only a traditional leader but also an educator who devoted part of his life to shaping young minds as a school principal, extending his lifelong commitment to building people and nurturing future generations.

“For two decades, he led Ayakoro community with fairness, grace and exceptional emotional balance,” Dr. Ogbuku said, adding that the monarch’s leadership style fostered unity, peace and progress within the community.

On behalf of the entire Ayakoro community, Dr. Ogbuku expressed profound appreciation to former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan (GCON), Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, top government functionaries, and dignitaries from across the country who honoured the community with their presence during the burial ceremonies.

The community also extended heartfelt gratitude to royal fathers from Ogbia Kingdom, including His Eminence King Dumaro Charles Oweba, Obanobhan III of Ogbia Kingdom, His Royal Majesty King Omie Theophilous Obanabhan of Obhan Ayama, and other traditional rulers who turned out in large numbers to pay their final respects to the late Paramount Ruler.

The burial rites marked the end of an era in Ayakoro, as the community celebrated a life of service, integrity and selfless leadership that will be remembered for generations to come.
